fourth of july

Trav went to Utah for a week to go camping and climbing and also to help my bro move to Cali for a few months. My dad ended up driving out as well, so my mom came up to our house and we had some fun girl days together. It was awesome!

The ward had a delicious pancake breakfast first thing in the morning on the fourth. The kids were asked to decorate their bikes for a bike parade. Of course I waited too long to pick up decorations supplies, and so the options at the store were pretty limited. But my mom picked up some plastic tablecloths and ribbon and we came up with something cute. Kapria had so much fun helping with the decorations.

After breakfast we came home and played and painted nails.

Then we met up with our friends at the park to play and watch the fireworks. There was a bounce house and slide that were a big hit, but we got tired of waiting in the lines and played on the playground for the rest of the time.

We met  up with several other families from the ward to watch the fireworks. Usually we celebrate the fourth during the day and then put the kids to bed at their normal time, so this is the first year the girls have ever seen fireworks. They were fascinated, although Mila was pretty nervous about all the noise. She did say she liked the green ones, though. (Green is her favorite color.) As soon as the show ended Kapria said, "It can't be over! I want to see more." We'll definitely be watching fireworks from this year on.

We got home late and I realized we'd forgotten to do sparklers, so we hurried to do that before bedtime. Mila didn't want to hold one, so Kapria got to hold several.

Mom spent the night and then headed home the next day.  It was so fun to spend time with her. Thanks for making our days awesome, Mom!
