and so it goes

I haven't had a new bedspread since I was I think twelve or thirteen. Whichever year it was, I really really wanted a two-sided comforter. One side was dark green. The other side was blue. I must not have thought I'd get it, because when my mom handed me a big wrapped box on Christmas day, and I tore the wrapping paper off to find tons of tape keeping it shut, I did not hesitate when my dad handed me his switchblade to open it. Mom must have been distracted, or I'm sure she would have told me not to use it.

but I did. I sliced through the yards of tape, eager to pull out whatever was inside. And when I opened the box, I found just the comforter I wanted...with a long slice through the top of it.

I'm pretty sure I started crying right away. My mom fixed it up quite well a few days later, and I learned to never open a gift with a knife unless someone has verified you can't cut its insides.

Anyway, that was random. So I haven't had a new bedspread since then. When Trav and I got married, we just kept using the one he had. It was in decent shape, despite being owned by a single male for a few years, it was a nice neutral color, and it was the right size.

That comforter is pretty worn out now, though. So Trav and I decided to look for a new one. I had an idea in mind of what I wanted, but mostly I'm better at seeing something and knowing that's not what I want. As I perused stores upon stores and online places galore, I hadn't found anything I especially loved. I knew I wanted color, but not too much. Yellow, red, blues, and greens would be good. In the perfect combo. Definitely not solid. Definitely not stripes. Probably not flowers. Something that would brighten the room and make me smile. Gosh I'm picky...

And then.

And then I found a picture of a bed for sale at Pottery Barn. And on that bed for sale was the perfect bedspread. It was exactly what I was looking for without even knowing it. I had to find that bedspread.

And I did! There it was! In the SALE section! The perfect queen size duvet cover for only $26.99. That is so perfectly affordable I could cry. Or laugh.

And then I notice that all sizes say, "No longer available."

My perfect bedspread is slipping through my fingers.
So I do a frantic search of the internet. There has to be another one out there somewhere.

THERE IS! On ebay!

And if I want to buy it, it will only cost me....

$241.00

I guess they know it's no longer being sold, so they ask what they want. I'm so sad. I was sorely tempted to buy it, but I could not bring myself to spend that amount on a duvet cover, much as I love it.

So here's to the bedspread that might have been mine. Had I only found it at Pottery Barn a little bit sooner, like before they sold out. Imagine it with red and yellow and green and blue throw pillows.

Perfectly Lovely and Cheerful and Perfect.

PS. I did call PB to see if there was any way of finding it.
They said no, sorry, it's gone forever.

Goodbye Forever, Duvet Cover of Perfection.

march is DONE...April's coming

Click here to see Kapria's adorable 18 month photos.

And with that, March is officially documented! I can finally move on to April. Maybe eventually I'll get caught up to the present. Wouldn't that be a wonder?

April sneak peek:

The Egg Hunts
The Easter Celebrations
The Wedding
The Arizona Family
The California Family
The Open House
The Brother's UT Visit
The Painting
The First Niece's Third Birthday
The Youngest Brother's Fourteenth Birthday

(and eventually I'll get to The NY Trip. Maybe before it's been a full year since it happened. But not likely. Maybe you'll read about it on the one year anniversary of our visit. That would be September. not far from now, really.)

PS. Mckenon introduced me to some fabulous songs that I had to add to the playlist. If you want to hear them, click the music box button that says "POP-" (it's cutoff from "Pop-out"). Then scroll down to songs 24, 25, and 26. AWESOMENESS.

PS2. One of these days I really want to update our banner. I think I made it when Kapria was 7 months old...hmm. That makes it over a Year old. Maybe I'll just wait until BG arrives. If you're wondering, that's short for Baby Girl. No names yet, or at least not that we're announcing.

PS3. I updated our blog layout to include some quotes we love. Enjoy.

PSfinal. I noticed a lot of maybes in this post. Pretty much that's my life lately. Maybe I'll be on time for work in the morning. Maybe I'll get things posted. Maybe I'll actually clean my house. Or maybe I'll just go to bed and dream of our camping trip coming up this Friday. I like that last maybe best.
